  • Differential I D

I was cleaning the mud and oil off the differential today and found a tag on the cover that reads 43/13. Does that indicate the ratio?
Also there is a 44 cast on the case. I need to order a cover gasket so do I need to order for a Dana #44?

    Yes,
    It's a 3:31 model 44

**Note- NOS tags I had cad-plated

Just divided ring gear 43 by pinion 13 and you got it. 3.30769 and that's pretty close to 3.31

That 7:17 would be too stiff even for a 1/8 mile racer, unless you can get 8 grand out of your Stude.

Yea and with only 6 teeth on the pinion imagine what would happen if say you accidentally lost one [}] in that 1/8 mile racer! BTW what rear end used the tags that are stamped vertically? I have never seen any like that.
