  • Don't know if this has ever been asked before..

Has anyone ever attempted to mate a 62-64 GT Hawk body to a "modern" chassis and frame?....and if so, what was chosen for this and how did it turn out?

    Just curious, that's all.

Karl 62 GT 4sp (of course it's black, what other color is there?)

It was covered, or has been covered regarding 53-54's. The best way
to go would be an Art Morrison chassis, its made FOR the body. Sure
the initial cost is higher, but the finished result is more refined.

That said, what are you hoping to gain that you can not achieve with
the source of custom parts available?

Not to demean your answer because it is valad, but...

      1. A chassis that is more than .119" (at the most) thick and doesn't flex like a spring bed.

      2. A suspension that is actually tuneable and fun to drive hard.
Now...I know the comeback to this...some of us drive differently than others!

      3. The fun factor...see grobb's stainless chassis with the independant front and rear suspension. Very nicely done.

      4. The ease of a designed in swap factor. That is...being able to change engine (and or trans.) brands with the swap of motor mounts and a set of headers. A well designed chassis can make this a pleasure, rather than a head-ach.
When I did the Vette suspension in my Lark...I did it with this in mind! I can swap the Stude engine back into my Lark with JUST mounts, nuts and bolts and headers. No welding, no cutting, maybe even no busted knuckles!
