I will post a better Picture soon.
Well I got a chance to go for a short ride in this beautiful 1951 Starlight Coupe. It has a 350 Chevy in it God is it fast. Chirps those tires, Good thing its got seat belts cause you need them. The seats in it are so plush the softest leather that I have ever felt. The sound of the engine in this Stude is fantastic. It just rumbles gears you up for that power, knock you back in the seat. You know how it was drag racing your buddies. Fantastic, what a rush. This Stude Belongs To our Newest member Bruce Novak of The San Joaquin Valley Chapter. I guess being the new President of the Club has its privledges. That's right I am now the new President of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club. I guess as president we have to test drive these Studes don't we? Hey Guys let me know as I am new to this pres stuff lol. Oh what a wonderful life it is Studebaken all over the place. Thanks for Listenen'

As president, you gain political capital.
Sounds like a great way to spend it;)
But abusing your power by riding in a Chevy powered Stude?[:0]
Congrats!:D

Anne, you may be the only female chapter president. I don't know if you're the first. Maybe Shirley van Dell (spelling?) in Duluth is also a president, but I'm not sure.

I know one thing I am going to enjoy being president getting Studes out there to be seen and enjoyed by all. This past year having a Stude of my very own, working on her driving her has been the best part of my life. I guess you could say that I'm hooked on Studes, My first International that we drove to. What can I say meeting fellow Stude People(Nuts like Me) has been fantastic.

Congrats. to Anne on being President, but I think that she is far from first. The Hudson Valley Chapter, SDC had a female Chapter President back in the 1980s. This was Louise Spicer when the HVC was very active. I don't remember anyone claiming a first for Louise, even back then. At that time, we had several active and Studebaker knowledgeable females in the HV Chapter.

Congratulations, Anne! Don't forget to update your listing on the SDC Chapters page:

http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/lc_CA.asp

Scroll to the bottom of the page for the "Update" form.

Also, be sure to send in your Chapter's event listings for posting: http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/ev_CA.asp Again, the form is at the bottom of the page.

BTW, all Chapter listing and Chapter Event forms also automatically go to SDC Publications Director, Larry Swanson for his use (including his "What's Happening" section in TW).

Congrats. to Anne on being President, but I think that she is far from first. The Hudson Valley Chapter, SDC had a female Chapter President back in the 1980s. This was Louise Spicer when the HVC was very active. I don't remember anyone claiming a first for Louise, even back then.

It wouldn't surprise me if Iris Holst was the first when she got the chapter in South Dakaota chartered in 1977. She was Editor of SD Hawk for several years after that, and much later, helped with the formation of the Yellowstone Chapter in Billings, MT. Seems to me Bernadine Harris was their first female President . SDC suffered a great loss when Iris passed away in 1991.

Congrats. to Anne on being President, but I think that she is far from first.

I dug back in some HVC records and could only narrow down that Louise was president sometime between 1969 and 1983, probably mid-70s.
