V-8 Lower radiator hose diameter

I just noticed that I have a hole in my lower radiator hose. It seems that its too close to the fan belt. The belt has been hitting it and has now put a hole in the hose. Its a flex hose, but before I take it off, I would like to have a replacement in hand. The auto parts tells me that there are different diameters on the flex hoses. Can someone tell me what the diameters are suppose to be on a lower radiator on a 289 engine? I know I can get a molded hose from SI, but I would like to perhaps drive the car in the morning.

I replaced the lower hose on my 64 Cruiser with a Carquest 20923. This hose has the spring.
