I recently purchased (sight-unseen) a "mid-fifties original Studebaker-Packard" seat belt buckle. Upon arrival, it definitely is NOT the usual buckle found in the 1956 and later Studebaker "Karbelt" kits.
It is indeed a fifties style buckle, but is plated, has "The Greenfield Co.-700" inscription. The lift plate has three raised decorative ridges. Condition, including the spring, is very good.
Did Studebaker or Packard offer any other belts during that era? My guess is that I may have an interesting but relatively useless "orphan" after-market buckle. No hard feelings, the low price should have been a hint of what it was or wasn't.
