Many times we are asked what color we are going to paint our truck or what we are going to do "next." Often, people aren't satisfied with the truth: we're pretty much done! We enjoy leaving our truck looking like a working truck. Here are some examples from Texas of actual work trucks...the type that inspire us to leave our truck the way it is. We know that choice isn't for everyone, but we see as much beauty in "what is" as we do in "what was." We'd enjoy seeing pictures of other similar trucks if others want to share.

I like them both ways. They are stunning finished and are less expensive than many cars to do, but showing its history is fun as well. As long as they are running and being used, it's about your happiness and much more fun for pictures. [^]

I know your feelings exactly! By the way...I absolutely love what you have done with your truck. Are you looking for other truck pictures like these?

I love those old trucks, the wrecker has more character than I can believe...it makes me want to wrap it up and give it a good home.

Can anyone here find the photo of an old C-cab (probably predating the two tone models or the stainless door trim) in a field where the name of the company was painted on the door, but in a kind of scooped out paint scheme on the door and forward of it? It was posted over a year ago. It was a very cool shape. I can't adequately explain it, but someone may remember that one.

I'm with you on that one JB, i've been trying to get him to wrap it up and place it in my driveway since he took the picture. But so far no luck.

Yeah, count me in on the "rough look"! I love them like that! ( I like them fully restored too, but there is something about a 50-60 year old truck that looks like it is being used everyday that speaks to me...plus, you are not pressured to make sure it looks 'presentable' every time you take it out on the road)

I would love a truck like that!

Anybody hear from John and Tracy Smith?
I e-mailed them to let them know there was an update to this/their thread.
Didn't hear from them or see them respond here either.
Maybe their puter froze with all the cold weather.

Hello! We are still here, but have not been spending much time online. John has been out of town and since we usually sit down and read emails and do postings together, we've been at a bit of a standstill. Hope it hasn't seemed like we were ignoring anyone, but we have not checked our Studemail much for this reason. We did participate in the Monday Night Crazy Stude Chat from two different states, which was quite the adventure (we had a few laughs at John's expense!). We look forward to "returning" to the Stude world here towards the end of the week!

I like the working truck pics too! [:p] The look on everyone's faces when you pull in for a load of soil or gravel on an old truck.[:0]

Here is one of the places my truck works every year. The truck is becoming my daily driver while while I freshen up my Lark.:D
