Santa made an early delivery at my house. He was towing a car hauler behind his sleigh. On it was this 53 2R6. Its a driver with ZERO and I mean ZERO rust thru. I've been looking some time for an affordable driver stude pickup, that wouldn't require rust repair. Here's the low down
It is a 1953 2R6 It seems to have always been an AZ truck. It has no rust
any place.It has 63 full flow 289 with R3 intake valves,30 over cupped
pistons, R2+ cam,600 cfm AFB,and Petronix ignition. It is all 12Volt with new
wiring harness with all circuits fused. It has V8 front springs and later champ rear springs,
new king pins,It has a 5 speed OD Trans ,4:11 Twin Trac rear end .
It has Chevy brake drums and 64 Champ front brakes. It stops great.
new glass and new window channel and new
vent window rubber. all side glass and back glass is smoked glass.
It has ice cold AC and a custom 4 row radiator. also an electric pusher fan. Seat upholstery in good shape recent painted interior, sw gauges and a headliner. It needs a paint job and carpet, I'll add my own personal touches but mostly this will be a presentable driver.

I grew up in GM country, but I have to admit that that era Studebaker pickup is about as nice a looking truck as one can find.

Really like it.

Can't imagine finding anything like that in Michigan, although right now the snow would be high enough to hide the rust.

That truck reminds me a lot of one that a member here drove for years. The paint on yours may be better, but he even had chrome wheels. His had a 289 with a 57 Golden Hawk supercharger hooked to a floor shifted overdrive. The truck eventually sold to a hot rodder sans engine for way more than he had in it.

Gee Russ, what else is there left to ask Santa for? I think that is exactly the Truck most of us would build if we could!
It has all of the BEST mechanical components. [^]

The only option I and some of us might change, would be the year model of the "C" Cab Truck!

In my own case, I prefer the '60 to '64 "C" Cab for it's many improvements over earlier models, but they would have to be custom made into a pickup since there were extremely few with the 9 Ft. P1 Box, not hard to do though.

Here's one that took someone a bit of work, it was on ebay a while back and displayed at the Las Vegas International Meet.
It started out as a 8E13-131 1 Ton Truck.

What a beauty! Somebody did that truck right with the hot V8, 5 speed OD, and the other updates. Perfect []. I'd be tempted not to even paint it.

Rich - I agree that the later C-Cab's are nicer (I like the Doehler grilled models best myself), and the one you've posted is a beauty! [][8D] Next best is an older unit with newer running gear.

You got it its Jerry Kaiser's old truck. He's had it for at least 5yrs. I wasn't a serious buyer, been looking for a rust free builder but once I heard he was entertaining the idea of selling I thought I better have a look. Rust free examples are hard to come by even in the desert southwest.

I have to be honest with everyone though, I said Santa delivered it but in this case Santa is the sweetheart that shares my life and let me follow thru with the purchase. Tomorrow we're loading up the gifts and the wife and daughter and I are squeezing into the cab (man these are small) and driving 50 miles to spend the day with the folks.
