    Greetings Everyone,
I must confess to watching, learning, and generally "Lurking" for a bit, enjoying the forum. I figured since I have begun the dive into actual ownership of one of these beauties I should join officially. I will, before too long I am sure, be hoping for some insightful advice from the collection of experienced folks here.
This is the begining of my road to the local cruise in:

Photo of how the car sat when I found it. Just finally getting it now. I willpost some more photos as I get it cleaned up a bit and evaluated in its new setting.
    .......Wish me luck

      Thank you Frank,
My new baby is a 1955 Commander 2 door coupe. My father had one and always told such stories about it, and was always impressed just how "ahead of its time" it was. I set out to find a 55 commander (although I suspect his was a 4 door) to restore.
I would love to join the SDC, is there a North West, Seattle or Tacoma chapter?

Go back to the home page and on the left you will see a place for local chapters, click on that and than your state and you will have all the info at your finger tips. There is a Greater Seattle, North Puget Sound, Inland NW and Central washington Chapter.

Actually 6...the Tacoma Chapter and the Whatcom County (Bellingham) Chapter are right below the 4 listed by Frank.

Thank you all for the Warm Welcome!
Tacoma Chapter is probably the closest, but I am tempted to go for the Greater Seattle chapter because that is where the heart is.

I will certianly try to make to the local events even if my Commander is not quite ready, I can still come and enjoy all of your beautiful rides!

If you can get it running, street legal and safe, there are those who will applaud your vintage (unrestored) ride, (see some of the signatures on these forums.) There is a product (Lark Shine(R))that is available to one and all, just rub hard with polishing cloth til it shines. Yours looks like a candidate. Mine was black, but not that good.

I must admit I am thinking some very fine compound and paitence. Some of the chrome is probably polishable. I have aparoched most of my restos (this is my first stude) with the attitude of clean up whats there and take stock, maybe enjoy it as is a bit even before deciding if I am tearing it down.
