  • Studebakers of Ark. latest meeting

It may not be too exciting for anyone else, but I have posted a few pictures of our latest chapter meeting. A few years ago the Studebakers of Arkansas chapter would have typical meetings with maybe 6 or 7 people attending. Last Sunday we had 21 present. We still need more cars there, but several of us have cars that are in progress. We hope to have a good showing for Drive Your Studebaker Day next July 4.

The Monte Carlo SS in the background belongs to a new member who has a GT Hawk in progress. He might have the Hawk done, but the upholsterer he took his interior to closed up shop over a divorce and lost the seats and console. He now has replacement parts and is getting them recovered.

Glad your club is growing. I wondered for a long time if there was any Studebakers in Arkansas. I see you have some there from Ida, Arkansas. Next summer Ozark Trails and Arkansas Studebaker needs to get together for a weekend of fun and tire kicking.

We've been thinking along the lines of a meet somewhere half way between here and Springfield. It could be fun.

Thats a great picture. It looks as though it could've been taken anywhere in the US at any other Stude meet. Funny how we all are starting to look like each other. Families do that.

Yes that is President Dick Clemens.

            I shot first.
Of course, the disadvantage of being the photographer is I am not in any of the pictures. Maybe that's a good thing.

When you set up that meeting between Springfield and Ark. let us know, maybe some of us Okies could make it.

Nothing has been decided for sure, but if it happens I will post on the forum to allow others to come. Some of us have to get our Studes on the road to make it more fun. I even wondered about Drive Your Studebaker Day as a good time.

Unfortunately, our chapter has no members very far south of Little Rock so a meeting very close to the southern border is unlikely. I regret that I did not try to start a chapter in the Texarkana area during the 15 years I lived there. There were Studebakers in the area, but my time was spent in other pursuits.
Of course, we would welcome anyone who wanted to travel up here for a visit to one of our gatherings.

I had thought about a weekend outing in Ft. Smith, Ark. with the Old fort and old Jenny Lind. There would be enough thing to do for 2 days. Friday and Saturday. If the gas prices stay down next summer.
