a 63 GT with a hood/front grill. Hood weak and bends at hinge...how
can this be retained?

Someone (like Classic Enterprises?) used to sell triangular shaped "stiffners" for the rear corners of those hoods.

You can also strengthen the long sides of the hood by gently bending a peice of round bar to match the contour and tack braze it out of sight inside the lip. This is a pretty good idea if you have straightened a Hawk hood that kinked after having busted the grill in a rear ender.
