  • Quick update on the '56 F4 hotrod . . .

Other than some clutch issues (still not resolved as of today--looks like I'm going to have to hack up a perfectly good Golden Hawk set up--too bad), the car is mechanically done, including making a new wiring harness.

It's been at the body/paint shop for about a week and here are some pics of the progress so far. I should have the car back in about 4 weeks or so. And then the nitpciky stuff starts . . .

WOW!! That is one straight, rust free body. []

I hope it's painted when I'm in SoCal the end of January. I'd like to see it.

What's the color going to be again, Allan?

Black. Old fashioned GLOSSY black (you were the one who talked me out of flat black)--my guy will be shooting base/clear--he can still get the solvent base coat, so I won't be experimenting with the new water based stuff.

I've been polishing stainless all day today. I'm about half way through the straightening/polishing process. What a pain in the butt--you get it what APPEARS to be perfect and then you buff it out only to find some minor flaw. I haven't gone nuts with this,though--there are SOME flaws (except for the grill, which would take about 100 hours of work to make perfect), but ones only I will notice I am sure.

This is going to be a trendsetter. I never really liked the 56-58 Stude sedans before, but this one is changing my mind. Good work! I can hardly wait to see the finished car.
