  • Lowered the '63 Daytona

Most stock Studes have a slight nose high stance. I think this is fine for a stocker, and expected.

IMHO, however, a modified car needs to have a hot rod stance to look right.

The Daytona with the light Chevy motor ended up with the nose WAY up in the air...

I cut 2 full coils which lowered the front about 3" and just started to bury the top of the tire in the wheel well...

    I think it's about right.

Now on to REAL work on it! [^]

Looks good. I think that it brings the car into the correct attitude. I think that you mostly compensated for removing weight from the front end. If you look at factory pictures, the front tires are just into the wheel well.
Being a bit older than you, I grew up with lowering the rear of a car, not the front.
Why does the 1963 Lark have a 1962 grille?

                Dick,

When you cut down the spring, how to you finish the mating surface to meet the a-arm? I don't suppose you have any pics?

                    Dick,

I have a personal affection for "that look", plus, it does have other advantages. Looks FANTASTIC so far! Keep up the great work.

The great thing about a modified is that you don't have to follow the cook book.

                          No pics.

What I do is grind the "stub" flat for the first couple of inches along the coil. I put the cut side into the lower A arm.
