Does anyone know if the NASCAR driver, Ryan Newman, from South Bend, has any connection with Leo Newman, of Newman Altman? It would make sence. [?]

Just some gee whiz stuff--Ryan Newman went to the same high school (LaSalle) that I did. I just did it 16 years before him.

I got a response. The webmaster's answer was, "Not that we're aware of".

Oh well...

Matthew: I saw a 1951 Oliver HG track setting along the road near Toledo, OH this afternoon. I remember you saying you would like to get one of these someday. I stopped and looked at it and it looked fairly nice. Had a price of #4750. on it. I don't know much about Oliver track vehicles but that seamed a little high.

Thanks for thinking of me. That does seem high, but I really don't know. Yes, I'd like to have one, although that's a little far off, and now's not the right time. Someday though...

Buckeye,

I have owned approximately 20 Oliver and Cletrac crawlers through the years and that does seem high, though I sold a nicely restored one for around $4500 a few years ago. I was the losing bidder on an OC-96 loader on e-bay last week and went to $4850 on that. A huge difference in machines though, the OC-96 weighs around 7.25 tons and has powershift and pedal steer, making it a very usable machine. Plus I have a factory cab just waiting for another machine to mount it on!
