  • what tire size?

I have a set of 14" wire wheels my wife would like to put on her 58 Silver Hawk. Anybody out there know what would be a good size tire to put on them....

hmmm, my Wife has 2 GT Hawks, and a 58 Silver Hawk(but whats hers is mine NOW, LOL)...But I still want my Daytona!

The original size was 8.00 x 14. That size is still available from Coker with either 1" or 2.25" whitewalls. Not cheap at $146 apiece.

This is a rare time when I will disagree with Skip.

      1958 Silver Hawk 6 - 6.40X15 std., 7.50X14 opt.,
      1958 Silver Hawk V8 - 7.50X14 std., 6.70X15 opt.,

1958 Golden Hawk and Packard Hawk had 8.00X14 std., with 7.10X15 opt. on Golden Hawks.

I checked this information in the 1958 Salesman's Data Book.

I stand corrected on the 6-cylinder Hawk. My source was/is Service Letter S-945-B of Dec 2, 1957. It only shows one tire size for each model:
        Silver Hawk V8: 8.00 x 14
        Silver Hawk 6: 6.40 x 15

For some reason, no optional tire sizes are listed.

Thanks for the input....if I wanted to go cheaper, and with a "P" tire what would that equate to....a p215/75r14????

            For a 8.00x14- yes. A 7.50 would be 205. See http://www.galaxieclub.com/tire-specs.html
