  • Rerun's Ride - '78 Avanti

Updated pictures... I removed the fog lamps and frame extensions, and replaced the grille to get back to the cleaner original design. Replaced the "boxing glove" rear bumper with an original style.

It's a '78 Avanti II, 350 cu.in.,with 28K miles. The car is original except for the beautiful BC/CC paint, and the removal of the "cow catcher", "II" emblems, and side moldings. The interior is "Rogue Buckskin".

Great-looking car Jim! My favorite color, and those Magnum 500 wheels look terrific! Congratulations on finding this car.

Looks like a nice Avanti. I have always liked the Magnum 500s on them. They only made 181 Avantis for the 1978 model year. Good luck with it. Enjoy it!

Great looking car. If you don't mind me asking, what year and shade of red is the paint? Is the paint a Gm,Crysler,Ford, color?

The paint is '78 Buick Firemist Red. It was the original color on the car.

                    Looks great, Jim!

Were these recent photos taken in Gettysburg by any chance? Sort-of looks like Gettysburg to me.

                      Bill,

The photos were taken on the grounds of Penn's Cave, near Centre Hall, PA during the Allegheny Region's Fall Weekender in October. If you haven't been there, it's worth a visit. The cave tour is by boat.

That does sound cool. I've seen highway signs for Penn's Cave since I was a kid! I always liked the town of Centre Hall, which I've driven through en route to Reedsville and back over the years. Looks like right out of a Norman Rockwell painting, and their old Chevy dealer there (now a parts store) looked like a '30's facility up until they closed about ten years ago...and I mean that in a good way!
