View Full Version : Front suspension pins

Alright, so as I'm nearing the completion of painting the frame I need to start on putting the front suspension back on.

Two things. With regards to the "pins" in the upper and lower arms on the 47-49 studebaker champion.
There is basically a large nut on the outside going through the arm then a rubber "seal".
How do you know if the pin and nut assembly needs replaced?
How do you get the lower pin off the arm? Do you need to spread the arm. Looking at the assembly the lower pin seems to be threaded through the lower king pin, being held in by a smaller pin that is dimpled on one end.
If it is the case that I have to press that small pin out for the threaded portion to come out which is the proper direction to remove?

yes you need to press out the small pin upwards, the dimpled end is the side the factory used to lock the pin down so press on the other end.
