  • distributor rebuild

I have a 1949 champion sedan and am going to attempt to rebuild my distributor, is there anywhere that sells a a rebuild kit. I have the auto-lite distributor, I need a new cap rotor points condensor, I guess everything but would like to get it all at once. Any ideas?

Studebaker International sells all the parts and they have rebuild kits also, depending on what you need. Part # 801030R is a kit for Champions with Autolite distributors, but it says 1951-64 for some reason, Maybe you have this distributor. The kit includes cap, points, rotor, condenser, spark plugs, and ignition cable set. If you have the Autolite IGC distributor (used in 1949) then they don't have a kit like above, but have all the individual parts. The kit saves you about $10, but you can buy whatever you need individually.

Otherwise, just order the individual parts.
    Here's their web site:

Check with Bud Alenick in Hawthorne. He is an expert on distributors! He has a Sun Dist. machine at home, and KNOWS how to use it.
