I recently purchased a 50 Champion starlight coupe with overdrive. However the dash cable was frozen so when removing the dash I chose to cut the cable in order to remove the dash. I want to start driving the coupe soon, however I want to do it before getting the overdrive functional. The cable was froze in the pushed in position. Additionally I eventually will need to rewire all the overdrive components. If I want to drive the Studebaker with the overdrive wiring not connected up and no dash cable what do I need to do?

If I understand correctly - you are certain that all other aspects of the engine & transmission work properly - then you can drive as is but you won't have overdrive available, only 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Bigger question - why wouldn't you want to wire up the OD? It's fairly simple if all the components are there and working. As far as the dash cable, you don't need it. Simply secure the OD lever in the full "rear" position at the OD unit (which is the equivalent of the cable dash handle fully pushed in). This will allow OD to operate based on the governor speed interlock.
What I'm saying is... replacing the dash cable is not critical to getting the OD functional. Wiring it up is easy if everything is there, so get 'r done!

Remember, too, that with the cable pushed in (or inoperative) you "Park" in Reverse. Otherwise the car might roll (1st, 2nd and 3rd are freewheeling).
