Gas prices are down, Rays are in the World Series. . . something No one could or would ever believe!:D

And to top it off the Central Florida Chapter is hosting the Florida State this weekend October 24 & 25 at the Holiday Inn Express, 13625 Icot Boulevard, Clearwater Florida 33760.

In fact there could be be up to 3 direct relatives of the Studebaker family at the meet this year. We expect upwards of 125 car & trucks. We also will have Studebaker Watches, Studebaker toys, Displays at the meet and Valve Cover races And plenty of space for Vendors. We encourage the public to come and see for themselves the historical cars and trucks of the past and talk with the experts about the real history of Studebaker. Will be finishing up the details for the meet tonight before the game. . . GO RAYS! :D

But, for those who are hedging on to come or not, the World Famous Rehydration Station has been delivered and will be set-up with 2 tents and chairs along with full coolers of water, sodas, and some other stuff ;) that you will enjoy. All you need is your best B.S. (where is Calvin, Jeff?) :) to join the fun!

Any possible rain is suppose to push through very early Saturday morning. . . God's way of helping you with washing your car.

With gas now down to $2.75 and going lower there are no excuses! [8D]

I am soooo bummed out.

1) Had to work this weekend in Myrtle Beach...
2) Nasty head cold
3) Weather turned beautiful today (80 and partly cloudy)
4) Rick Courtier calling me just to taunt me about how great the meet is.

Your day is coming Courtier (cough...hack...)

Received my late evening Rehydration Station update from Rick....

Weather was perfect...
Several Studebaker family members were in attendance with their Studebakers...
Best of show was a primo '40 Stude Champion...
(And a very humbled Rick Courtier was awarded the "Doctor Robert Cade Award" for the best 'daily driver Studebaker'..)
Congrats to Rick on his award!

Yes it was a lated night. . . but it was the last two weeks that caught up to me. Doing a State Meet is hard work for the chapter members and trying to keep that positive feeling going when the body is worn down is very hard to do with out a little help from Dr. Yuengling Magical Elixir. :D

We had a few mis-haps at the meet and we had a smaller crowd then expected due to Fridays Rain, (Something about rain and driving Studebaker don't mix in a Drivers Club [:0] ). But everyone seem to have a good time. Remember we really only had about 4 real months to put this meet on. . . but the food was really good!

Oh, yes I was shocked that I got a award for driving my Studebaker [:I] afterall we are in a driver club and that is what I thought we should be doing with our Studebakers. But I really thought that the award should have gone to a few others persons that came with driver's Studebakers like Don Fifer that pull his 46 Studebaker pickup with a real working Studebaker Transtar. and plus several others nice drivers larks, wagons, champion and commanders that are daily drivers for the most part and also Mickey Pierce's sweet 56 Transtar pickup. [8D]

Here is the award. . .

Working on this. . . I was not the Meet Photographer, I was in charge of selling meet stuff and giving away drinks under the Rehyration Station so I got a break around 2:30 to shoot cars and I just did a quick shot of each car which I have to digitally process them before uploading to Webshots however the meet photogragher is suppose to sent me his cd for a up load so well see who is first to get off their ass and get it done first. [B)]

Otherwise I'm working on it!

Just want to say thank you for a great weekend and real nice show. The food was by far the best I have had at a Studebaker show (and a special thanks for the Rehydration station).

It was nice getting the Rehyration Station back into service and I had the best job at the meet. . . getting to meet and greet almost everyone at the meet and also hand out a soda, water or whatever.

Don it was great seeing you and the rest of the Studebaker crowd and we tried our best to make everyone feel welcome!

By the way next stop for the Rehyration Station is Daytona for the Turkey Run. . . are you going? [8D]

In all truth, the award is not for the Best Daily Driver, but for the Host Chapter choice for Daily Driver. And that the Dr. Robert Cade Trophy will be the Central Florida Chapter's sponsor trophy for each state meet from now on. However the host chapter will get to pick the Daily Driver of their choice. (Note: I would have perfer that they had picked someone from another chapter, but I was out in the Rehyration Station solisting votes with refreshments. . . the Iowa connection continues. ) [}:)]

Thanks Matt!

I can honestly say that out of all of the awards that the Transtar has gotten this is by far the BEST! I just hope that Dr. Cade would have approved. . .

I believe it is a 64. . . and it was for sale at the meet for $20,000. I also heared that it sold at the meet. Plus it got First place in it's division. (convertible only) We had more divisions to give out more trophys but that also made for a few mistakes for cars to be placed in the right division. One of the only problems we had but again it was due to a short time period for handling the meet.
