  • 62 Power Steering ???

This hawk was bought by a guy and they got it started and drove it on the back roads home. The power steering hose broke lost all the fluid he went on home. Went to NAPA and had a new hose made up. Put it on filled it with fluid now when he turns the wheel it jerks. Is there a way to bleed the steering? He called me last night and I had never ran into this problem before.

Even completely empty systems should self-bleed. It may be that he just needs to add more fluid. I use plain transmission fluid (Dex/Merc).
I start the car and turn lock-to-lock several times... this has always done it for me..

Thanks studeman. He said he done that with the wheels off the ground. Could their be possibility that some of the hose went in to the cylinder?

Make the turns with car weight.....Also, if he removed any other hose, he might have the left & right hoses installed backwards...
