When is the next one. That was memorable trip.WE went trough Kansas City and it was raining so hard and my slow wipers. Meet up with the I believe it was the Hawk Eye Chapter just east of Ames, Iowa and went out to eat a big steak and a lot of good conversation. Next morning my radiator was leaking. A couple of guys said stop at the store and get a can of black pepper and put it in the radiator. I thought it was a joke but I tried it. And sure enough it quit leaking. Well on to Clear Lake. Had a real nice time my wife loved it. While driving around second gear went out. On the way home low and high but made it. When we turned off the highway going down hill to the house the radiator blew. I turned the key off and coasted 2 blocks home.

Can't see something about Clear Lake, Iowa without a tear coming to my eye. And I don't think I have EVER seen a pic of the ballroom. wow.

Yes I remember that meet well, we were there. Sitting in that ballroom that has so much history was a real treat.I also remember laying under my car on a Sunday morning repairing the 4 speed linkage in our GT Hawk in some little town along highway 30 on our way home.

Does anybody remember the big scale model in the lobby? I think it was a 52 not sure it was about 3 or 4 foot long. I thought I had a picture of it but I guess I don't.

I was there for that meet, it was one of the best I have been to, big too for a zone meet, right after the the Austin, Texas national and really hot there so the zone meet was perfect, Allen Meeker and his group did a super job, and they are doing the next national so don't miss it. I drove from california to sell parts and see the ball room, very nice.
