Anybody can correct me if I'm wrong, but... isn't the radio delete the same for all of the Larks produced from '63 to '66? If so, contact George in Oregon. I sent one up with a car to him and he may be willing to part with it.

Would not the 66 be woodgrained ?

Beats me! The only ones I've really seen are '63 and '64 and they're a ribbed aluminium or tin to match the band that goes across the glovebox or vanity. There are two threadded studs mounted on the back that go through the volume and tuning knob holes in the dash.

I've only got one, and I used it on my dash...

'63-'65 should be the same. I wonder if SASCO has any left?

They don't list No. 1353849 on line.

66 Cruiser radio delete plates were indeed woodgrain. I had one so equipped.

Technically, they are not "radio delete plates". The plates were standard and were not used when replaced by the optional radio, except if you are referring to a model, like a '55 Speedster, that had a radio as standard equipment.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gary.

We all have pet peeves and while it is second to missing battery hold-downs, I also dislike the use of the term radio delete plate, implying that a radio was standard equipment and the plate was installed only when radio deletion was specified.

You run into the same thing when certain muscle cars are advertised as heater delete when, in fact, heaters were still optional equipment on most cars of the era. (Picky, I know, but some things just rub each of us the wrong way...[8D])

Whew! I'm glad that's settled! BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Hot water heaters. [?] If the water is hot, [:0] why have a heater?

Okay, the politically correct name for the radio delete plate is (and I'm quoting from the Chassis and Body Catalog published in October '65)part#1353849 MOULDING, radio control hole cover crash pad. I bought one for my '65 Daytona at York dirt cheap. The '66 Commander I once owned had a woodgrained one, but it now resides in little Studebaker heaven.

Not that I'd advocate sacraficing a good glove box door, but you COULD craft a radio delete plate from the adjoining piece that runs across the glove box.

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
