  • Hey Tom Bredehoft

Did I miss a report from you when the Pres. got painted?

I guess, you and a bunch of others did. The outside looks great at 20 feet, as you get closer you realize it's a CASO paint job. The inside still needs lots of attention, but I do have four complete door panels installed. I'm waiting on the windshield before a lot more gets done.

YIKES. That looks WAAY better with the trim. The holes and bare clips are NOT a flattering look!

Here's a current image, to compare with the one Claymore shot a month ago.

Everythings on but the windshield trim.

Yes, but....I used something called Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch. It turns out to be a latex base paint. I put on eight coats, (unthinned) should have gone for 16. Its a transparent paint, shows holes in the primer, I was afraid of wet sanding through it. So, some places it built enough to really polish, others looks like the rough side of sand paper. Looks great at 20 feet. I've got about 50 hours and $35.00 in it.

For those that might be wondering, here's what my 55 President State Sedan looked like when I bought it, Nov. 3, 2007.

While I have not done a 'frame off', I have put almost 500 hours into it. The front fenders were replaced with NOS, the engine was replaced with a running engine, the raccoon nest was removed from the interior, (floor built up to level of rear seat) and everything rusty was cleaned and covered with POR 15. More later.

I'd like to see pictures of how the interior came out[8D]

You'll have to wait, Bob, it hasn't made much progress. Patience will be rewarded.
Here's a shot of the front pass door, all four doors match, but little beyond that is done.

The dash is awaiting replacement of the windshield before the padded top is replaced. The front seats are from an 02 Chevy Envoy.
