just reasently put a new alternator in my 63 champ and at high rev its pushing toward 15.5 volts what would be some reasons of overcharge?

The regulator not doing it's job. It should charge at roughly 14.5 volts. If you've got a dash-mounted voltmeter, I'd check it against a good digital voltmeter.
