I am ready to put the trunk rubber on a 62 Daytona, and want to confirm that the rubber goes on the lid, not on the body. Thanks

Yes, on the deck lid. I suggest you have the seam where you start & finish the weatherstrip in the middle of the rear half of the deck lid & glue the ends together. I always use the 3m black super weatherstrip adhesive.
