  • New radio dialglass

    Hi,
I got a new radio dialglass from Studebaker vendor to replace old dial glass in my '57 Hawk.
I was not sure how to change the glass. I emailed and asked vendor about it. Later I got a reply from seller said: "There is a little more involved to it. You have to remove the whole front panel from the radio."
Do it means I have to remove a whole dashboard to access the dialglass? It is possible to take the whole radio and speaker out from under the dashboard?

Thank you for any your help! Steven

From radio knowledge in general, nothing Studebaker specific: pull off the knobs and see if there are threaded housings surrounding the rotating knob shafts with nuts on them. remove the nuts and the faceplate should pull off. There is a good chance that the dial face is glued (stuck) to the metal faceplate.

Doo not remove the dashboard. As Bob indicated, pull the knobs and unscrew the nuts to remove the radio from the dash. First, disconnect radio power at the in-line fuse and disconnect antenna lead from radio.
