A question: Since 65 and 66 Cruisers could be had with a V8 or a '6' and I note that the order sheet does not specify the engine type, was a V8 the default engine for Cruisers and the '6' was a special order?

That's just the window sticker. Six cylinder car bodies were designated by SY9 instead of a VY9 on the body tag. I don't think they were special orders, although the number of 65-66 6 cylinders was low. There were 791 1965 Cruisers were built with 6 cylinder engines; of those, 128 had a standard 3-speed transmission, 74 had standard PLUS overdrive; and 589 came with an automatic transmission. I don't have the 66 numbers in front of me.

Wonder if the Ede Motor Co. would give me much of a trade-in credit for a '61 Cruiser?[:0]

Of course, SY9 and VY9, I'm brilliant this morning! [B)](sound of smacking oneself in the forehead).

Push button radio cost $64.95 on window sticker. Is that a AM/FM I see in the dash? Original BLACK buttons?

Very solid-looking little car! I bet with all the help she'll get from her local chapter members, that little beauty will be a runner in no time!

Nice cruiser! I have a few questions, is that an am/fm radio? It looks like it could be. Also, the tissue box, is that a true studebaker one? I always thought that they went to the grey plastic one for later years.

As will the serial number. Six cylinder cars will read C13xxxxx and V8 cars will read C53xxxxx.

The radio is an AM/FM. Not sure about the tissue dispenser.

I first noticed the vinyl top. That is a fairly rare option. At $83.20, on a $2550 car, I can see why. I had a friend that owned a 1965 Cruiser with a vinyl top. That is even rarer.

                          Jane,
That's a nice looking Cruiser and I'm glad that you're keeping the car. Your dad would be proud.
I've always felt that the '66 was one of the nicest looking Lark type body styles and your car convinces me even more.
Best of luck. Wise move to join SDC.

I REALLY like the 64-66s with vinyl tops. I looked at a rusty 65 2dsd at York this year that still looked sharp from a distance due to that top[8D]

                            Nice car, Jane!

All 1965-1966 Daytona Sport Sedans (two doors) had vinyl tops. It is the 1965-1966 four door sedans with vinyl tops that I was referring to as rare (especially 1965).
