  • turn signals for 51

Hi guys, Im sure ive seen them before when I was not looking for them, but now Im not sure where I seen them? Im looking to add signal lights to my original 6 volt 51 champ, I thought i seen an adapter kit out there, but be dammed if I can find one now. Anyone know where I can get one?

An adaptor kit would likely be something aftermarket - that is, anything like that that you could hope to find today. T/S WERE an option in '51 and with diligent searching, you ought to be able to scare up an original T/S switch. Then it would be a matter of redoing the front parking lites to use dual filament bulbs and interfacing the existing brake lites with the wiring for the T/S switch OR adding another bulb under the taillight lenses. There is room therein for such.

I found one for my '49 Champion at JC Whitney. Worked like a Champ.

The wires are already there if you have the original harness. It has been many years since I did this with a factory kit, but everything just plugged in. I still have the instruction sheet somewhere. I will post a copy if someone else doesn't.

Well I was going to scan the instructions and post them, but the quality is not good. I had better luck photocopying them, but I don't know how to post the copies. I guess I can mail you the copies unless someone else has a better idea. The original has darkened a lot in 35 some years of being folded in my shop manual.

1951 turn signal switches 530466P are hard to find.
The 1952 style 531780P looks very authentic and are easier to find.
They mount the same way and fit just fine.
                I STOCK THESE AT $65.00.
