  • overheating

    I have had three Studebakers all with Champion engines/ two of which never overheated/
    But now I have problems/ I've bebuilt the moter cleaned out the block/new water pump new radiator/ and still runs hot/

    It just keeps getting hoter and hotter untill I have to stop and wait to cool/

    have any idea what can be going wrong/

    Are you sure it is overheating? Have you checked the temp with an cooking thermometer? Or an infared thermometer? I have seen the upper radiator hose collapse, causing overheating. I would still check the cooling system for combustion gasses, just to make sure that it is not a crack, or failed head gasket, or warped head. Weren't champion heads susceptible to cracks? Just a few thoughts.

      Also check for a stuck, or improperly installed thermostat, or a stuck, closed, exhaust manifold heat riser valve. Hope this helps.
