What about Hudson's and AMC's Hornet? How about Ford's Taurus (the bull) and their Maverick? Or the Kissel Gold Bug? And speaking of insects, how about the Scarab? Then there's the Stutz Bearcat and the Sunbeam Tiger. Geez, give me a couple of hours, and I can probably come up with more.

There's a more comprehensive article on this same subject in the latest issue of "Old Cars" weekly. It's broken down to various categories. Interesting stuff.

Isn't the Thunderbird an indian god vs a real 'animal'. And if the Thunderbird is included, shouldn't the Phoenix (or Firebird)?

I don't think that this was intended to be a comprehensive list, but its still fun to fill in the blanks. How about that Lark wanna-be, the F**d Falcon?

Uh although one of my absolute favorite cars (68Charger) even over some Studes and while I believe they are in fact an animal on the streets, I have never heard of one in the animal kingom.

On a historic aircraft forum, I did a large list of aircraft and cars that share a name.

                      To name a few with obvious Studebaker connections;

Hawk (Curtiss series of prewar fighters, British Aerospace Trainer & Cessna and Douglas Skyhawk))
                      Avanti (Piaggio)
Commander (Aero Commander series of light twins...and a few singles).
                      Champ (Aeronca, later Champion Aircraft)
Dictator (original name for Consolidated B-32..the back up in case the B-29 failed..later changed to Dominator)
Starliner (final development of Lockheed Constallation airliner)
                      Lark (Cessna 175 Skylark...a 172 with a different engine)

                      And probably others...

                      63 Avanti R1 2788
                      1914 Stutz Bearcat
                      (George Barris replica)

                      Washington State
                      63 Avanti R1 2788
                      1914 Stutz Bearcat
                      (George Barris replica)

I have fond memories of flying around in a tail dragging Aeronca Champ. I like flying in real basic planes with the wind blowing in and very large planes. I do not like the in between sizes.

I believe a Charger is a type of horse. I may be wrong though...
And I also agree that the "insect" names don't count.

1963 Lark Custom, 259 V8, TT, 4 doors, 2 tone paint. Driven often, always noticed. Man I love this car!!
