  • Wiring (55 Prez)

I'm trying to trace a 'leak' in my electrical system. It seems to be in the two wires that connect to the hot side of the starter solenoid, one heavy red wire and one black wire. The Wiring Diagram shows a red 10 (Correction, 8) gage wire(B)Goes to the Ammeter, the black 8 (Correction 10)ga. one, (A) goes to the OD relay.

Uh... its an automatic, no OD relay.

    Where's that wire go?

The heavy red wire is your main feed and will only show that the draw is somewhere in the system, most likely the voltage regulator/generator.

Tom, I don't recall if your Prez has power windows or seats? If that black wire is an 8 ga it should look a bit larger than the red one.
If it looks a bit smaller (12 ga), it might go to the horn relay. Or it might just be part of the harness with the other end taped off on non-overdrive cars.

No stock power window or seats....

You're right, Dwain, the larger red wire is 8 ga, I had them reversed. I'll see if I can find a loose end somewhere.

          Thanks.
