I am restoring a 1951 Studebaker Landcruiser and I am looking for the ash tray unit that goes on the back of the front seat. I need the whole unit with the chrome, etc.

Got a pic? I have some Ashtrays that I have removed over the years, and just recently took them apart and had the "innards" cad-plated. I never marked them to what car they are to... so I don't know what I have ...

Thanks for your reply. I need the entire unit that goes on the back of the front seat for the 1951 Studebaker Landcruiser, including the ash tray receiver. It has chrome on it and it is also painted the same color as the dash (bronze-like). The one that is currently there is from a 1950 Commander and was put in by mistake as to the car's year.

Andy,
I have the complete unit from a '51 Land Cruiser. Big chrome thing about 18 inches long and weighs about a ton. Not sure of the condition, I'm not at home, on my way to pick up my wonderful '57 Packard. Will be home tomorrow and can send pix and price if you're still in need by then.

EIGHTEEN INCHES!! Wow, that's huge! I have a '52 Commander and the ashtrays are in the door posts. They look nice too.

IIRC, the correct terminology is 'ash receiver'

John,
Thank you for the pix. It does not look that bad, but I don't know how I may get the crack in the ash tray repaired. The chrome can be replated. I am going to the show in Lancaster next month and I hope to find one in better shape as you suggested. If I do not, I'll be back in touch with you.
Thanks again.
Andy
