The 56-58 wagons are my least favorite of the Stude wagons. But I was moving the Provincial around the yard today, and while it was out in the open, it did kind of grow on me a little more;)

I dunno who got the Commander script, it wasn't me.

That signature pic would be none other than Andy Granatelli himself. [^]

Hey Matt

There was at least at one time a TT rear end in that wagon? The rear and the TT emblem ought to be worth grabbin. Is it for parts, or would you have to buy the whole car?

I have never understood the dislike for 58's although I think that is changing quite a bit. I have a question, do those who dislike 58 Commanders, Presidents,Provencials and Champions also dislike the looks of Chrysler products and other finned cars from the same year, or is it just Studebakers offerings?

That was a sharp eye that spotted that TT emblem!:D Gee, Mr Biggs, the car looks white over Sea-Foam green to me. Nice colour combination, however I just can't get past the rear of these cars. I hate the tail-lights and think the dual headlight pods are stupid. Other than that... love 'em!;) My favourite wagons are the '55 to '56es. I like the rear of the '55 with it's clean fin-free lines, and the front clip of the '56-7 (don't like the rear of the '57 though). Eye tink dere awll jus gwa-jus![:o)]:D Boy, am I gonna need that twin-traction rear this winter! Ah, well... empty pockets.[:I] Gotta get Bess back on the road let alone tinkering around with drive train...;)

By the by, Matt; excellent job with the shot! It's almost too bad the car is going to get picked apart. It looks largely complete from the rear. Then again that rust on the bottom of the tailgate bodes ill...[xx(]

We all know where the "other" Granatelli pic (the '62 Cruiser) came from, don't we? [}:)] :D :D

Remember those "early" TT's with the cone clutches, were not really the greatest, or they would not have been replaced by the "flat" clutches! [:0]

Yep, mint Green (Seafoam) color! [:0]

And therein lies the attraction for some, including me! I enjoy the oddball styling of a lot of the older cars. Of course, I'm not old enough to have had to live through being a Studebaker fan and being saddened to see that that was Studebaker's answer to the competition[xx(]

Neat pic...reminds me of the 1980s Herbert Hesselmann photo-essays taken at the Michel Dovaz estate in France (though those cars were mainly European stuff, with a couple Cords and a couple Lincolns and one 30s Graham sedan thrown in)...Methinks there have been enough of these moody abandoned-Stude shots just here on the forum to make up a year or two of calendars. I'd buy such a calendar...but then I'm the melancholy type.

Had never seen a 58 Stude wagon prior to the Crossroads Zone Meet last month; an unrestored example trundled in and parked, and I was just fascinated with it. So odd-looking it's very, very cool! Here it is at the hotel in St.Catharines...
