Has anyone here ever used Omni MBC and their MC161 clearcoat?

I painted my hood with it and kept getting ripples. So I went with the regular Pittsburg clear and had a lot less work. It seem to level better for me. I still have the OMNI down on the shelf. This was just my experience.

I use PPG every day.I've never liked their 'Omni' stuff. The Omni line has all been replaced with the 'ShopCoat' line in my area.-not a big improvement. The mc 161 is hard to lay down slick, dries too slow, drapes easily, and is hard to buff.
It depends on what you're painting though, for a user friendly system, use ppg DBC and ppg 2021 clear, but it'll cost you $200 a gallon.

Thanks,
I know the paint (PPG)is a lot more expensive (BTDT), which is why I chose Omni for this. Their primers all work great (MP170 / MP282) Can you use the PPG Clear over the Omni basecoat?

Along the same lines, what do you professionals think of
the Dupont chroma-base/clearcoat system? tks,

Here's another BIG vote for PPG... have used it since it was called Ditzler...

Paint is like masking tape; you can buy some that is MUCH cheaper in cost, but will more than cost you in difficulty! Cheap masking tape is EXTREMELY hard to remove cleanly; cheaper paint as a rule is trickier to get right, and harder to fix... not to mention long-term durability...

Spend the extra for the quality brands; it more than pays for itself in the long run!
