Ughhh... it's SO ugly....

I have no idea why I'm so attracted to this thing... thank Heaven it's too far away from me......

What is it about the mutts that I'm drawn to...? Believe me, I love the sharp, beautiful cars... but I seriously can't explain my attraction to raggedy Studes also... maybe the whole "neglected puppy" thing...[B)][:I]

P.S. Nice use of the word, "widget" in the link- what's up with that? [:o)]

I was sort of attracted to it too, until he mentioned the rust issues. I like the fact that it is V8 with 3 on the tree. With a little work and money (Well, maybe a lot) it could look like this.;)

There is a big difference in the appearance of 1962 and 1963 sedans ("greenhouse" area). I have owned several 1963 sedans, but I have never had an interest in owning a 1962 sedan, even though I have had some good chances. I know that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and "different strokes for different folks", but I just don't care for the looks of 1962 sedans and wagons. 1962 hardtops and convertibles are a different story.

Good parts car; serious rust issues, which is why people make fiberglass front fenders and aftermarket floor pans and rockers.

For the price, it could make a good project for a teenager who isn't afraid to work and learn, and make his/her first car something with vestment.

Twenty years from now we'll wish someone had saved it.
Right now I have sufficient projects to see me in to my golden years.

Did anyone notice the dash clock? This car is worth the price for the dashboard, upscale hubcaps and other goodies. If the motor is good that's an advantage too. I don't think that it should go much higher... Then again, I've seen auctions of all kinds go stupid at a moment's notice. I think it's a sweet little car. It would be nice to use this car to dress up my own '62 and fix parts on it.

All I need is one more car......[:0]But, it says it runs, though a caliper(?) is stuck. A 2 door, V8 Stick. It is within driving distance for me--6 hours, anyway. If I were serious about it, I'd definitely give a little more than $300, even if it is a trifle rusty . I've sure seen worse.

I was referring to the color and condition of that poor ol' thing [xx(]

For some reason I'd like to have that to drive as it is... sort of an anti-show car statement- great for annoying snooty people [8D]

2 door sedans are really vogue. The Chevy guys go crazy over 2 door sedan Biscaynes and Bel Airs. I've always been a fan of no frills plane jane cars for some strange reason. I do know they are less prone to windnoises over a hardtop.

I agree. Below is a picture of the 63 Custom 2 door sedan I owned but sold a couple of years ago. It was a solid little car but far from perfect. When I took it to car shows, I would put a sign on it that said:

"You could fix it up and it still wouldn't bring anything on eBay or probably anywhere else" seems to be the battle cry for cars like this. If it was a 4-door even more so, but like other posters have said, it sure does draw you in. Who can resist a winsome little Studebaker that needs a home? Des Moines is a short drive from where I am and I put this little car on my "Watch" list but that is probably as far as it will go.

Yep. One of the first things I noticed was the clock. I guess they are kind of rare.

Clark; take off those rose colored glasses!:D It's Brown!

Ron and Scott, sorry but that does not look like a Stude clock, wrong setting knob and bezel, not sure about the hub in the center either, but it fits and looks OK, I like the '56-'61 Wheelcovers! [^]

OK, I can't take it [}:)]

Went back and looked at the listing, and the seller added:

I went out to look and here is additional information on the rust.
There is a small rust hole on the drivers side door, as well as on the rear fender.

Meanwhile, the door has a hole the size of a baseball, and the bottom appears to be hanging loose.....

Thanks for looking out for us, pal [xx(]

Yes, I remember the Allstate ad. They received a lot of negative input from Studebaker people. IIRC, it seems that the first car that they insured and first used in their ads was a Studebaker.
