It looks like an awful big pipe coming out of the collector. Will it breathe too freely, for a stock 289 engine in a 57' Transtar?

What's "too freely"?[}:)]

Certainly they'd bolt up to the heads, but I bet a buck to a cop's donut that you're gonna have some clearance problems on the driver's side.

They look like they may be rusted and thin. Look at all the dents. No telling how much he wants for them either.

This is Bob Peterson's listing. I was just at his place last week, but didn't see the headers. Call Bob. He will describe them accurately to you. His cell number is 510-266-2522.

BTW, Bob is in the process of closing his outdoor "yard" and consolidating everything he can at his Hayward shop. He started this process about a year ago in anticipation of loosing his lease and has maybe 6 months left to go. He has gotten rid of a lot of stuff, but still has literally hundreds of rust free doors, fenders, etc., as well as many rust free frames (including X member wagon frames), engines and engine parts. Bob will be at Lancaster and can deliver there or along the way from his home in California. See his ad in the June TW.

Hey Dick--

Do you think he might have an early Saginaw box for my '56? Every time I look at the Ross I think--"if you're gonna change it out, NOW is the time!"

I'll give him a call if you think he might have one . . .

I'd guess he would, Allan. I don't think I've stumped him yet :)

Allan, if he has TWO please let me know! Actually all I really need is the shaft/worm assembly; I have the rest of the setup.

thanks

Finally got ahold of Bob. He has a '55 Champion sedan with the Saginaw box--he's going to pull it and ship it to me "grease, dirt and all." He's sending the whole set-up including the pitman arm and will probably sent the jacket as well "just to save the hassle of taking it off." First time I've dealt with Bob--seems like a heckuva nice guy and the price was GREAT!

Thanks, Dick for "steering" me in the right direction!

I hope you buyers and sellers are all on the same page. I think some of you are looking for a manual Saginaw box and others are wanting the power steering box.

yup Allan I talked to him yesterday as well... finally got a *little* free time to call. he says he's going to be parting an early Champion C-K this week so I'm hopeful. Actually I need to call him back, might want the door panel stainless as well (especially if it's a C-body; I could use some of those little unobtanium clips for the piece that retains the door panel at the top. Sal hooked me up with a bunch of them but I think I still have one or two missing.)
