  • '57 Packard Clipper Wagon

I was over working on the mainland most of last week and while traveling between appointments, I spotted this gem.[8D] It was immaculate inside & out.[^]

Thought you late '50's enthusiasts might enjoy the pics.

I wonder if it still has the original blower? If it does, man, what a fine car!!!! What a credit to its owner keeping it so nice.

              SWEET RIDE!!!

But~ forget the blower- look what's above the two rear license plates!!!
Even having those there won't protect that little piece of pricey plastic.

It's a nice wagon, but I have a question. The two-tone does not look correct to me. Shouldn't the bottom color end under the center of the headlights and not be carried up towards the hood? I do not have any factory pictures here to compare it to, just an old memory.

Not easy to see, but it can be seen in that shot.

Personally, I'm a little concerned about the Clothing Donation Box visible in the first photo. Hopefully, the car wasn't being left in the parking kit to be picked up by Red Cross or Volunteers of America![:0][:0] BP

Yes, even the '57 Studebaker Sedans/Wagons had the same center of the headlight paintline! The '56 non Presidents with the painted headlight rims even have two tone ones, like studeclunker's! [:0]

Revised to add: I think I may stand corrected! It looks like studeclunker's Head Light Rims are solid color and correct!

The only reason I said that is that our (now Dave's) '57 Parkview had a set that were two toned that the restorer took from his '56 Commander because he did not like the stock D4 model CHROME ones!
I assumed that since the '56 they came from was two toned that he re-painted them the same with the two tone, but maybe NOT!

I think I have seen Factory color pics of that '57 Clipper Town Sedan, it's Lilac and White, that's why it barely shows up in Black & White.[^]

Studerich. I went and dug through old pictures of my 56 paint color breaks and the break in mine is at about 8 o'clock on the drivers side and 4 o'clock on the pass side. My rings are solid top color. I am positive my wagon was never painted so I assume mine are correct. I love talking about the wagons as there are so few of them I learn something everyday. The Packard pic looks like it is cut right in the center. Mine definitly goes a little beyond that. Studeclunker where do yours break???? I do know the paint schemes are a little diff. for SB built and Cal. built.

I do not think that you can extrapolate the paint break line from a 1956 model Studebaker to a 1957 model (Studebaker or Packard).

You are correct Gary. On a 1957 Packard the paint line is vertical under the head light bezels unless of course it was painted a solid color.
