Avanti A/C vent Fix

My 66 Avanti II has A/C with the two round vents. The vents are very loose fitting and will not stay pointed where you want them. If any of you who own Avantis have had this problem what have you done to correct it? I was thinking of putting some felt around the vents to add some friction [between the vent and the ring]. Thanks for any ideas on this,

That is what I did on my '64....30 years ago....no problems since!
