I could nitpick here and there but what's the point... overall it's a very cool ride and it sure beats being turned into soup cans or razor blades. That dash resto is art BTW. I like the old school SW gauges too.

I don't suppose we could convince you to come over to the dark side and slide some Studebaker power between those frame rails...?

actually i am actively on the hunt for a supercharged avanti motor and overdrive trans. if ya got one it wouldn't be hard to convince me to run it.

that dash is out of a 47 plymouth special deluxe. only had to cut about 3/4" off each end and slightly modify the taper shape at the center of the windshield. fits like a glove.

Now that looks very fun and cool! I like the old plate too! X.72.97 NY 47... Kind'a adds "experimental" to the project!

Thanks

:) Cute indeed. (I'd want to be careful wearing any big diamond rings when twirling that steering wheel, lest they get torn off!)[:0] :DBP

COOL-NESS!!! Your truck is neat.I would Love a ride in that!!!
I saw something like that Sunday heading Westbound on I-90 heading towards the Dells in Wisconsin ,which is where I was coming from. It was a rat-rod truck in green (IIRC)primer,or a flat army green color, with straight pipe headers pointed directly at the ground, with a big Army truck star on the door ,and what looked like a small version of the kind of canvas bed cover the 6X6 troop trucks had back then. And even though I was suffering from roller coaster neck and whiplash from trying to see that truck,I swear it said STUDEBAKER in big white letters on the tailgate.Anyone else know of that truck??

It certianly fits the Studebaker criteria of "Different by Design"!!That dash is a class act.

Awesome, rat ride dude. looks like you done an awesome job and a lot of work getting it back together. I would love to see it in person.

But i have to agree with the grill thing. There's some awesome stude grills that would look just as good. Some are on e-bay right now. before us ol goat stude herders hit the sky

But then it's that ol sating thats same as always to me , your ride your choice. All i know is we need more like you to keep the studes alive before us ol goat stude herders hit the sky.

ha, i remember this badboy...your last post here is about a year old - are you still on this forum by any chance??..i remember your nasty stude from the killbillet forum and i friggin' love it...i'm a bit [positively] surprised yet very glad to hear that other stude 'purists' are on board with it too...
:)
well, i love everythin' about it [incl. the ford grill - it's true to roots 'rod-different' imho], except....... the slightly cheesy chain steering wheel and the maltese cross mirror...
hell, ya've made that stude p/u so rad and original the ubiquitous 'rodshop' wheel/mirror kind of still screw it up for me, it shouldn't be too much for someone with your talent/skills to mod a vintage wheel and a peep mirror or something in that vein for truly unique effect...aye, supercharged stude mill would be even kooler but i ain't gonna gripe - the ride is major badass - as a rod should be, dash itself is first class indeed and that steeply raked windshield somehow makes me think of a medieval knight's helmet...but in a good - sinister - way...
your ride just screams 'hot rod'!! to me...i'll hafta get you on my myspace friend list next time i log on there hehe...rock'n'roll!!!...

So thats what they meant by "different by design"
Sweet ride. really cool. I cant complain, I race a oval track modified racing lawn tractor thats modeled after a '62 lark. (Ill explain later) Really neat to see a stude rod though.

One other comment: Maybe a grille ornament that screams studebaker, at first glance, somebody might think it an other brand.

Way Cool!!!

That front shot with the door open makes it look like something Batman would drive.

Love it. Question, looks like the headers are open to the air. If so how much noise does this motor make. Local cops must have a field day with you.

My kind a truck, love it, specially the doors.

Got the same gas tank in my 50 2R.

Was this truck on ebay a year or so ago? I like it. One thing (I think) I would like to see would be to replace the grille with a more rakish shape like the ones on 34 and 35 Studebakers or even the 34 fords. The artistic flow of a raked grille would compliment the aerodynamics of the chopped cab.:)

Only thing that would make this truck look any better is if it was sitting in my front yard:D

No problem with basket cases being turned into hot rods. It's when a solid survivor is chopped up that I get a sick feeling.
