  • Studebaker brake parts source

I had a very pleasant and surprising experience obtaining brake parts for my 1955 Studebaker Speedster. Wanting to deal locally if posible I tried NAPA. They obtained all these parts (made in USA) in two days at good prices and then knocked off 10% for having an AAA card, pretty nice for a 50+ year old orphan.

    Numbers for my 55
    ---Master Cyl. 3 2796
    ---Front Whl. Cyl. #19236
    ---Rear Whl. Cyls. # 19238
---They also had the front hoses but I lost track of the numbers.

    Cheers

I think NAPA quality is often noticeably better than other chains'.

There was a reply to my original post from a dealer of Stude parts (I think) It's been removed for some reason but I would like to reply.

My other cars are a 64 Corvette and a 70 Chevelle Conv. which are essentially kit cars with everything possible available from many, many dealers. So much body and mechanical stuff is available that you could easily build a complete car from any one of 6 or 8 catalogs. This kind of experience spoiled me so I was kind of proud to support an in-town vendor.

I did'nt mean to in any way imply that Studebaker part vendors should'nt be used. After giving it some thought I can certainly appreciate how difficult it is to supply parts for an orphan brand out of business for over 40 years. All I wanted to do is relate what I thought was a good experience so others could use that source. In no case did I want to imply that owners shouldnt use parts sources specic to Studebakers. If anyone was offended, I apoligize.

I get brake parts from NAPA as well. Everything from lines to wheel cylinders for my '59 PU came from there.
