  • M5 fuel gauge

My truck has been converted to 12V system.

I have installed a step down transformer to run the 6V fuel gauge.

The fuel gauge moves erratically from full to empty constantly.

Any ideas how to solve this problem greatly appreciated.

Do you have a good ground?

If you are using a transformer that puts out a constant 6 volts the ground could very well be the problem. If you are using a voltage drop that uses a resistor like people used to try, the gauge will always be erratic.

I used one of these on my '54 converted to 12v...

The fuel and water temp gauges (electrical on a '54) worked perfectly.
