  • Transmission oil

This is what I recently put into my T-86 O/D transmission (MT-90).

    Noticeably quieter operation.

    Transmission oil

I am just wondering if anybody has any experience in which oil is better in manual transmissions: 90wt gear lube or 30wt engine oil the shop manual says either can be used. I have had no trouble with gear lube but since I have rebuilt my overdive I think thta the 30wt would be more efficient but, I think I may get more noise using it? While on the topic what is the difference in the pawl (that the solenoid opperates) from a T-86 compared to a T-96?

Pennzoil also has a "Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid". You can use 30W or 40W non-detergent motor oil, as well. Just don't use any of the GL3 to GL5 oils meant for rear axles because they have ingredients that eat up the brass parts in a transmission. Many auto parts stores carry GL1 oil which is also what you want.
