Went to the 20th Annual Car Rally in Cairo, GA today. An all makes get together with a few Studes in the mix. My granddad and 8 year old cousin rode in the '57 Silver Hawk, while I rode with my aunt and uncle, and 4 year old cousin, in the Brand X.

The '62 Lark lineup was well represented. A '62 4 speed Daytona hardtop, '62 Daytona Convertible, and a '62 Cruiser all showed up.

The Cruiser was driven in by Stephen Cade and his Mother.

Stephen's sister, Martha, drove her stunning '64 Hawk.

And a few Stude folks as well.

Mark, sorry there were no Stude trucks that showed up. I did make the trek in Old Orange last year, however. :)

More pics here.

Matthew wimped out!! He chose to ride in an air conditioned Suburban instead of a shiney black Studebaker. Can you believe it? I thought I had taught him better than that.

Maybe he mistook the a/c compressor for a blower, and thought he'd get there just a little bit faster... [:0] ;) [?]

Look at all those happy South Georgia folks~ I sure miss you gals and guys!!!

Well Mark, the Cairo auto museum houses several Studes. A horse drawn buggy, four immaculate '28-30 Presidents, and a few trucks. An M16 dump truck, a M5 pickup, and a 1930 Stude fire truck. [^]

Here's a post about last year's rally, with pics of the trucks.

Having ridden in Studebakers with no AC for nearly my entire childhood, I've learned to appreciate some of the comforts of modern cars. [:o)]

Hey Dave, how's this for a blower? A couple guys were tellin' me, "That's what your Orange truck wants to be like when it grows up". [8D]

And don't worry. If the Orange truck ever does get a blower, it will be atop a STUDEBAKER V8. [^] An Orange Whirly Thing would go great with the truck's exterior.

I think a cross country adventure (yea, another one!) to Georgia after you retire, would be a great idea.

Glad you had a good time Matthew. What was that lavender car behind the picture titled "Jim Holley and his '64"

Leonard, I seem to think it was a Mercury or something. I didn't pay it a whole lot of attention. ;)

Looks like a superb event!
Wish I had more time and more gas money...
Had a hard time eeking out one day to play here in Savannah...
Maybe next year y'all can do the Skidaway show as a chapter meeting...
Food for thought...

Great looking cars. Thanks for the pics, but you're too young to chose ac and stadium seating over hot Studes for a meet like that! What the heck, Matthew? You had to know you'd take heat for that one... pun intended.

If it counts for anything, my daily driver is still a Stude, a ratty old Lark at that! No AC in that one!

I would be at the shop workin' on the Orange truck, but it's been stormin' here. I've had graduation stuff this morning too, as well as more later today. ;)

I stopped by Cairo last friday and had supper at Wayne and Rosa Hadden's resturant They told me they are expecting another great event this year. Lots of registrations are in already. The park it's held has been redone and is really nice.
I'm kinda afraid to go this year. Last year my wife saw a big black Dodge Ram Hemi called a "Night Runner" She now owns that Beauty and is known as the "Coolest Grandma" in town.

Dates for this year are May 11-12. For more info, call Cairo Ga. COC at 229 377 3663, or Wayne or Rosa Hadden at 229 377 3911.

It will be a great time!
