  • Cone clutch

    Hello

We have a 1915 series 16 ED6 , 7 passenger Touring in need of a new cone clutch lining. We understand that the correct lining was leather; however we were wondering if there is a modern replacement material available. Does anyone have suggestions for any parts supplier for the original style replacement leather? We also need some gaskets.

    Thank you

Try Caterpillar - I know they still have the leather links for their dry clutches they ran in their 40's crawler tractors. They have to be geting their leather somewhere. Ted.

Can someone explain to me what a cone clutch is, and how it differs from a modern clutch?

Pardon my academic laziness. Thank you for pointing me to the basic explanation, JDP. Wouldn't alignment between the cones be a critical factor on these units? I assume that the main reason we don't use them on modern, higher speed vehicles is that they get wobbly due to imperfect alignment at high RPMs?
