Hello all,

I just purchased a 1949 Studebaker 2R5 Truck and well, anyone having a lead to where I may obtain a right front fender and left rear fender, I would definitely appreciate the help.

The motor, transmission, interior and brakes are in good shape.
Cleaning out the glove box I found the original invoice dated Dec. 3,1948, for a cost of $1,647. The Truck was originally purchase in Nebraska.

I believe the rear fender at least is available in fiberglass, if you are just doing a driver.

Phil, I saw some fiberglass rear fenders in the swap meet "slick street Stuff" booth of Renee and Bonita Harger in South Bend (865 525-6151 or e-mail slickstreetstuff@bellsouth.net In case you are not concerned about originality.

Nate, Frank and Mark,

Guys thanks for the information. I did call the Vendor you suggested and because of your reply, I now have what I need to move forward.

Now the question is do I leave the small six or drop-in a Studebaker 289?

My take on this is leave the original engine and transmission as you indicate they are in good condition. A V-8 would be nice but would involve considerable expense like the purchase, overhaul,installation, plus you would want to convert the electrics to 12 volt for better starting. Much of the expense would involve the labor and your capabilities and willingness to do a large part of it yourself.
