Itís been several weeks now but I made a post asking for help in positively identifying the exact year of my Champion Studebaker. I was told to post some pictures and possibly the serial number from off the car. So, hereís what Iíve got; if anyone can help it would be great!

Please print info from the body tag under the hood on right side of firewall. And the serial from the drivers' door post. Pics will not open. Thanks

There is no serial number off the door; I did however manage to obtain the body tag number from off the firewall. It reads:

9G-W3
6236

I think that is a 1950. 1953 is a 14G so figure back. I do not have a book that covers that year.

So it should look like the car on the right.

The one in the previous photo is a 1950 Commander Land Cruiser. Distinctive by it's longer, Commander front fenders and it's Land Cruiser unique reear door vent windows.

Here's a 9G-F5 Same year (1950) and model (Champion), but a 2-door variety (F) with Regal Deluxe trim (5).

A W3 would be a 4-dr with Deluxe trim.

So, 9G-W3 = 1950 Champion Deluxe 4-dr sedan.

I just ment that the car on the right was a 1950 as opposed to the 1951 on the left.

David, I wasn't trying to upstage you. You were right as to the 50's frontal appearance, I was just trying to elaborate.[:I]

No problem Mr. Biggs I should have mentioned that the bullet nose itself was an easy way to tell what year the car is, and I wasn't trying to say he had a land cruiser.

The blue '50 is indeed a Land Cruiser and also is factory equipped with an automatic. It is owned by Melvin Wampler and is pictured in front of Chester Bradfield's house. Frank Drumheller (Studelark) did a feature on Melvin and this car (which was bought new by his uncle) for our chapter newsletter.
