Looking for window regulators

Hey Fellas,

I'm sitting right in the middle of the fence, between converting to power, or staying stock. If anyone knows where I could get my hands on two decent window regulators, at a reasonable price for a '37 coupe express (Dictator?), That would probably push me over to the "manual" side. e-mail jclarke1@ec.rr.com Thanks, Jimmy

You take out the 1936-46 Body Parts Catalog, you look up the numbers for the regulators under the "Closed Cab" section at the back to find p/n 265339 for the right door regulator for a J5 and 265340 for the left regulator. Then you go to Google, type: studebaker 265339 and search. Do the same with: studebaker 265340

Both searches take you to Studebaker International where you find NOS regulators for $85.

Two minutes, done!

You can get the 1936-46 Body Parts Catalog, the 1936-46 Chassis Parts Catalog, and a 1937 Car Shop Manual all from Studebaker International (SI) when you order the regulators. SI will also send you a free printed copy of their catalog with an order to make the future tasks easier, though you can look at PDF files of the catalog sections (and save to your PC) here:

Jeff Rice (DEEPNHOCK) has power windows on his CE. I'm sure he could lead you in the right direction. And what's neat about his, is that the windows cranks are still there, you just push or pull the crank and the window goes up by itself! [8D]

A trip to a junk yard could score a couple of late model Ford or GM electric window meachanisms. They have become thin and simple (wire rope operation). The travel channel will be curved, but can easily be straightened.
Shouldn't cost a heap of money.
