I am trying to locate a shop that does plastic vacuum metalizing. My 1960 Lark has plastic inserts that originally were vacuum metalized, but the metal has rubbed off. These plastic pieces are the grille for the speaker and gauge clusters. I have tried the chrome paint that is on the market, but it looks like silver instead of chrome. Eastwood has a product that looks like chrome, but their tech line told me that it wouldn't work on plastic. I have tried to find NOS, but haven't had any luck. Have any of you worked through this process? If so, how did you handle it?

Had the same problem..Try A-Brite Plating in Cleveland, Ohio on W.117th St. I think they only do plastic plating now. Sorry, I don't have the number, but you can check for a website or 411 them. Good luck!

The don't list any Studebaker parts on their "Rechrome" page, but I suspect that most of their metallizing work is done to order anyway.
Let us know who offers to do this work for you and how well it works out.
Here's a link to a story about a BIG vacuum metallizing chamber that my current employer built two years ago. We just shipped a bigger one that would hold your entire car.
