  • Using comments from Forum in Chapter Newsletters

    Bob,
What is the policy on using comments from the forum in Chapter Newsletters?

    Members,
How do you feel about reprinting your comments in Chapter Newsletters?

The thread about getting the word out and the thread about International Drive a Studebaker Day are gold mines for this purpose.

I would like to use some in our next Newsletter.

As long as it is Studebaker related (and we are not off on a tangent) and the author gets credit, I have no problem with it.

The individual posts should be considered the intellectual property of their authors. Before using them you need to get the authors' permission.

You can paraphrase a discussion and include a link to the thread.

Please keep in mind that a lot of comments here are tongue-in-cheek, so context is very important.

The comments that I would use would be ones that encourage Studebaker useage and the need to get our Studebakers out into the public to help sign up new members. I find that a lot of you have a way with words and have a diffeent point of view that I didn't think of that will help the cause of SDC.

Also my signature picture on this thread on my home computers is huge and on my laptop it is normal size. What is it? And why is it this way?

There is controversy brewing as we speak because an SDC Local Chapter News Editor used a copyrighted piece without the author's permission and within days received a demand for $750.00 from an attorney representing the author. Now no one here would do that but I STRONGLY recomend that you ask for permission. I have many articles posted on the editor's forum of this site and all are there with permission to reprint. Others have been forwarded by Mr. StudePubs who will also tell you to get permission to use. To stay out of trouble please get permission.
