Was the color of the wheel wells the same color as the exterior. No undercoating.

Mostly just a half way done, over spray, but most show cars are fully painted.

One more question.. if you paint the wheel wells for show...does this change the original factory status?....I would like to paint them but i am trying to restore car to original condition...less undercoating of course.

You'll get a better score with painted wheel wells than undercoated or the factory spray and mist job. The body color paint in fender wells will not cost you points or move it from original classification.


Make them shiney and tell people it was a car built on a wednesday


Be sure to use a hard acrylic enamel under the fenders so to hinder rock chips from the tires and road.

Check out the undercarriage of Barry Leppan's beautiful Hawk on page 38 of the March TW. If you are going to paint the wheel wells body color (no undercoating) you will probably want to do the undercarriage the same.

Thanks for the info.....The undercarriage has already been painted, same as body...Using acrylic enamel...
